Five minutes ago I finished reading The Great Disruption, the most recent step in a ladder that began last year with Daniel Quinn’s novels, and Jared Diamond’s books. I found it particularly pertinent, because at last there is a book that speaks of feasible solutions to the problems described by the other authors. I guess that the recent social movements worldwide (indignados, Occupy WS etc.) fit well with the “back against the wall” scenario that you described, and whereas I would have listened to news about these movements with concern only a few months ago, now I see them with optimism hope that they will trigger yet other movements. Thank you.
